Paediatrics is located on the second floor of Whitehorse General Hospital. Care is provided by paediatric nurses in collaboration with physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, dietitians, and other team members to provide family-centered care. Adult patients are also cared for on this unit due to its close proximity to the medical ward.
The paediatric unit at WGH is proud to have on staff a First Nations Child Life Worker who is responsible for meeting the recreational needs of all children during their stay at the hospital.
Age appropriate toys/games/activities are provided to make the child’s stay a more pleasant one.
Parent cots are available for parents who are encouraged to stay overnight with their child. A microwave and fridge are located on the unit.
The paediatric unit at WGH is committed to providing safe, competent care for all patients. A child friendly atmosphere is a priority for paediatric patients and their family.
